Going on plant-based food habits, or adapting no waste policy or organizing your Eco-friendly lifestyle standards one can contribute a lot in a bigger picture to alter global warming, climate change, burning of fossil fuels and pollution etc.
ADOPTING AN ECO FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE
It’s very simple to adapt an Eco-friendly Lifestyle because if one is aware of how important the health of our environment is right now…choosing to choose the given scenarios is not difficult. We live in a very adaptive society, but we are also comfort creatures.
We tend to look for comforts and once this comfort zone starts to seep in, we tend to ignore the larger picture. That’s human nature. So, wake uprise and see what big changes we can make by just making a few alternatives and adapting an Eco-friendly Lifestyle in our everyday life and once we adapt, we will find no gaps.

70 EASY TIPS AND WAYS TO LIVE AN ECO FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE
I will be sharing 70 very easy ways for Eco-friendly Lifestyle to inculcate in your daily life not compromising or changing too much in your day to day activities that you can do to help the environment. So, let’s get started…
1. CUTTING DOWN ON YOUR MEAT
So the first thing to follow the path of Eco-friendly Lifestyle is eating fewer animal products. So now I’m not telling you to go completely vegan, vegetarian; you don’t have to do any of that although it would be a big help if you did, even if you don’t it will still help a lot because even eating one vegetarian meal a day or vegetarian meals a week, it’ll help the environment so much in a way that if you go vegan for one day you will save 1,100 gallons of water, forests and 20 pounds of Co2. So being vegan for one day out of the 365 days in a year also will save all of that.

2. INVESTING IN A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE
Whether that’s made of metal, silicon, glass or bamboo, investing in reusable water will be such a big help because every year thirty-eight billion plastic water bottles are thrown out and that’s just in the United States alone, so think about the worldwide numbers.
3. INVEST IN SOME REUSABLE STRAWS
There are many different choices that you can get in the market, you can get metal straws, you can get bamboo straws and a bunch of other plant-based materials that you can put into your pockets or in your purse before you to eat.
During our hunt for bamboo straws, we came across THEOTHERSTRAWS who sell some cool designs of reusable bamboo straws.
4.USE A SOAP BAR
Soap bar instead of bottled soap is better for the environment because you don’t have the plastic packaging that you throw out after each bottle that you use now and finish later. If you’re vegan you do have to be careful of what is inside of your soap because there are lanolin and other stuff, but soap bar has basic glycerine and glycerine is vegetable-based, so yeah you have now something nice and animal friendly.
5.OPT FOR SHAMPOO BAR
Witching out your regular shampoo bottle instead of a shampoo bar, it will also cut down on plastic packaging. A shampoo bar is packaged in recycled paper and some designs even attach natural scrubber/ loofah with it.
6.DO NOT USE A CONDITIONER/ AVOID IT
Retaining the natural oils in my hair and avoiding all the sulphates of a conditioner I would choose to discard the use of conditioner instead use home DIY masks to protect my skin and hair.
7.REUSABLE SAFETY RAZOR
Metal razor is too good right now taking into the account of so many single-use razors going in the dustbin and eventually to landfills. It’s cheap convenient washable and hygienic. opt that instead. Also, regarding the earbuds, there are plenty of options available these days for reusable cotton buds.
8.CARRY YOUR OWN BAGS
Go start shopping with your own carry bags and prefer to pick a loose vegetable to avoid extra polythene that comes along with it to measure it. Instead, carry existing small bags from your pantry to measure and keep them in one reusable bag. This is rather a big step towards Eco-friendly Lifestyle.
9.STOP FOLLOWING FAST FASHION
I can’t stop talking on this. I can write one full book on this topic of how insensitive, unethical and trashy the business of fast fashion is. “Make use dispose of” model of this fast fashion brands like H&M Zara Forever 21 etc. is just so bad for the environment. The run for the trendy #ootd has come to another level and the short-term use of these clothes end up in trash and millions and millions of tonnes collect in landfills to release toxins in the air like methane which directly adds to global warming.
They make clothes that are intended to last a very short amount of time, so you just throw it away and buy more and that is not good for the environment. So, I highly recommend not supporting fast fashion brands in the first place if you want to live an eco-friendly lifestyle.
10. INVEST IN A REUSABLE CUP
If you go for coffee shops frequently and get hot beverages or cold beverages then I would recommend investing in a reusable cup.
11. RE PURPOSE CLOTHES INTO RAGS
If you have clothes are so destroyed that you can’t give them away to sell or donate them, then you can re-purpose them into rags. I have been doing that in my house for a long time or there are even super creative ways that you can re-purpose them such as making them into dog toys there is quite a bit of tutorial on Pinterest and sometimes I even use my dressed which are torn from only some areas to make tops and kids clothes out of it.
12.USE APPS TO PLANTS TREES
Another super cool thing is a search engine called ‘ecosia’ you can either download it on to your computer or you can download it as an app on your phone and it’s basically like Google you can search anything, and a tree is planted on your behalf. So that’s pretty cool, you basically don’t have to do anything except using the Internet whenever you can.
13.BUY AN ECO-FRIENDLY PHONE CASE
Now, this is something a lot of people don’t think about but buying an Eco-friendly phone case is a wise choice to opt for. Cases are made from plastic and most likely unsustainable materials so purchasing an Eco-friendly phone case is a big help in the environment right now.
14.DO MEAL PREPPING
Is also very beneficial for Eco-friendly Lifestyle because as you may know that takeout creates quite a bit of waste because a lot of takeouts comes in Styrofoam packages, comes with plastic cutlery, even sauce packets are plastic so cooking at home and meal prepping will definitely be a huge help and it’ll be a big help for your bank account because you’ll save so much money learning how to cook good meals at home and meal prepping will also take your lunches and stuff to work. There’s a lot of YouTube videos on meal prepping available.
15.KEEP UTENSILS IN YOUR PURSE OR CAR
I definitely recommend looking into it for Eco-friendly Lifestyle because if you do get takeout I recommend keeping utensils in your purse or you can keep them in your car so you always have them for you when you get takeout because I know all of us don’t have a meal prepared all the time. You can cut down on the plastic cutlery and use your utensils instead.
16.SWITCH TO SUSTAINABLE CLEANLINESS PRODUCTS
You can switch out your unsustainable cleanliness products for more sustainable products such as a zero-waste toothpaste, a zero-waste deodorant or a bar of soap to use as a body wash.
Bamboo toothbrushes you guys have probably heard of this one a lot but bamboo toothbrushes are absolutely amazing because they’re made out of bamboo and if you guys are afraid of cutting down forests and stuff, bamboos one of the most sustainable materials because it actually grows up to 35 inches per day.
17.PICK UP TRASH
Whenever you’re walking down the street or at a park or at the beach it is such a good thing to do for the environment. Whenever I go to the beach I always try to pick up trash when I’m walking. It just feels better and I feel like I’m making the beach beautiful again.
18.BUYING THINGS OF ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING
I am always being conscious about buying things and Eco-friendly packaging which is also very beneficial. As an example peanut butter in a plastic jar and a jar of peanut butter in a Glass Jar. The Eco-friendly Lifestyle option would be a choice of buying the jar of peanut butter in the glass.
19.WASH YOUR CLOTHES LESS
It is also super good for the environment and for your clothes. Your clothes don’t need to be washed every single time you wear them unless you get them filthy or they just smell funny. Washing your clothes after a couple of wears is better for them to hang drying them in sun.
20.BUY ECO FRIENDLY MATERIALS CLOTHES
One of the best things that you can do to be Eco-friendly Lifestyle is just don’t buy stuff that you don’t need and if you do, buy your clothes in Eco-friendly materials such as 100% cotton linen and other materials. Try to avoid non-Eco-friendly man-made materials like polyesters and nylons. All those materials contain plastic that will seep into the ocean every single time you wash them and contribute to the microplastic pollution.
21.USE GUPPY BAG TO WASH POLYESTER
If you do already have clothes with polyester and stuff, you can purchase a guppy bag to wash your clothes. That prevents the microplastics from leaching out of the clothing.
22.OPTIMIZING THE COMMUTE
Biking, walking, using public transportation and carpooling are all amazing ways to not contribute to pollution. This will also result in less pollution, punctuality and fewer fatalities.
23.CARRY YOUR OWN REUSABLE PRODUCE BAG
You can buy your own reusable produce bags which you can find out a lot of Eco-friendly shops. It is really good because a lot of fruits and vegetables like avocados bananas and stuff like that has its own skin to protect itself so why do you need a plastic bag to do that and also I’m pretty sure all of us will wash our fruits and vegetables at home anyway so if it does touch the car in the conveyor belt it’s going to be getting washed whether you put it in a plastic bag or your cart.
24.BUY LOCAL AND SEASONAL
It is an amazing way to the environment and supports your local farmers, so things like attending a farmers market, the flea market is a really amazing thing and it’s also quite fun and the produce at a farmers market is so much tastier than it is at a traditional grocery store.
25.USE REUSABLE TEA BAGS
For everyday tea and coffee option or just use loose tea, boil in some water and strain the tea. There are also very stylish kettle designs available in the market these days which can soak in some tea in water and you do not need to strain the same.
26.INVEST IN REUSABLE CLING WRAP OR BEES WAX WRAP
You can choose this option to pack-unpack instead of using plastic wrap.
27.USE SILICON SEAL BAGS FOR STORAGE OF FOOD
There are so many substitutes for traditional Ziploc bags like silicone reusable bags which are microwave-safe, freezer-safe and that come in many different sizes to store your snacks.
28.USE OLD RAGS AND CLOTHES FOR PAPER TOWELS
Instead of using napkins and paper towels all the time, you can just use rags or the old clothes like I mentioned earlier or you can buy like table napkins to use to wipe your face while you’re eating in stuff.
29.OPT FOR REUSABLE COTTON PADS
Instead of traditional cotton pads, there are reusable cotton pads. They can be also be used as reusable makeup base wipes.
30.SKIP MAKEUP REMOVER
I don’t even think you need makeup remover. You just get it wet with just water and it removes all your makeup, so I definitely recommend looking into that now.
31.PLUG IN WASHING MACHINE AND DISHWASHER WHEN IT IS FULL
You should wash your clothes in your machine, or wash dishes until you have a completely full load of dishes and clothes to do your laundry and dishes. You can also hand wash your dishes instead of always using the dishwasher.
32.DIY CLEANING SUPPLIES
Making your own DIY cleaning supplies is better for the environment and doing a DIY tutorial from YouTube is super fun as well. I love using vinegar and water to wash my mirrors and windows I actually find that it works so much better than a traditional window and yeah making your own cleaning supplies is super awesome.

38.USE FOOD WASTE TO MAKE MORE
If you have food waste such as onions, garlic, carrots, celery and stuff, you can use all of that to make your own vegetable stock which is super easy. You could just look up different recipes and stuff and once you’re done with those vegetables (since they’re only boiled in the water) you can compost those because they don’t have oil or anything now.
39.USE THE RIGHT LIGHT AND TURN OFF
This one is simple and straightforward but turning off your lights every time you leave the room or leave your house etc it’s just good. It’s a great habit so just remember to turn off your lights.
40.KEEP REUSABLE TOTE BAG IN YOUR PURSE
This is also really nice for when you want to go shopping but you weren’t prepared, now you have a reusable tote bag in your purse.
41.SPREADING THE WORD
Talking about the impacts of the way we live on our environment and informing your friends and family is super beneficial. You can also share some of these tips with them and encourage them to switch out some of their products. I encourage my family to switch from their plastic toothbrushes to bamboo toothbrushes. Just little changes like that and just spreading the word and informing people is super beneficial. Eco-friendly Lifestyle is a way of life that need to be addressed.
42.OPT FOR ECO LAUNDRY DETERGENTS WASHING
To your clothes be sure to use Eco-friendly detergents also if you are not able to make it at home.
43.USE ECO-FRIENDLY SUNSCREEN
I actually heard about this very recently but chemical-based sunscreen is actually horrible for the reefs in the ocean. There are places that actually banned you from wearing sunscreen when you go diving and stuff because it impacted the reefs.
44.USE PERIOD UNDERWEAR OR SILICON CUPS
Instead of using the traditional pads and tampons which are usually plastic or wrapped in plastic, you can use either period underwear such as things or something like silicone cups.
45.INVENT IN SOLAR PANELS AND LIGHTS
You can also invest in solar panels and solar lights.
46.STOP TAP WHEN NOT IN USE
Do not waste water while you are brushing your teeth or putting soaps in your body parts. Close the tap tightly when not in use.
47.COMPOST PAPER IN COMPOST BINS
If you have a compost bin, composting your paper such as your homework documents that you don’t use anymore etc is super good for your compost bin to provide the nitrogen source.
48.BUY CONSCIOUSLY AND BUY LESS
Be sure to buy consciously. Buying less is, of course, the best thing but we cannot stop buy anything forever so just by consciously make sure you’re going to use the item up completely and make sure it’s beneficial and important to you.
Further, before I was so ignorant about what I was doing, how much waste I was producing but once I started further educating myself I started to get better. Honestly just doing some research in what’s the impact of plastic, what’s the impact of eating a lot of animal products etc. really helped me.

55.GET LOW FLOW SHOWER HEADS
Getting a low-flow showerhead will be beneficial and help in water conservation.
56 REUSE JAR AND CONTAINERS
I would store my food in jars and a lot of those aren’t in the cute mason jars, they’re actually in old pasta sauce jars, peanut butter jars etc. It may not be the cutest but it’s more Eco friendly and you can also decorate the lids, so you don’t have the printing on it.
57.DELETE ALL THE OLD FILES FROM COMPUTER
Never knew this was an actual thing but keeping old files on your computer and keeping old emails and not emptying your trash on your computer uses a lot of energy. The days are usually stored in the cloud and the company’s offering the cloud services have huge servers dedicated to strong data which are essentially in huge warehouses filled with servers which are running 24/7 365, so all of these old files that you’re not using are stored and using energy in those huge warehouses.
These warehouses are also super polluting and use so much energy from AC systems to keep all the servers at the right temperature so that they don’t overheat. Just deleting your old files will help you conserve energy
58.DONT CHEW GUMS
This one is also different, but a lot of chewing gums contain plastics that will not biodegrade for a very long time. You can use mint instead of chewing gum.
59.USE PAPER TRASH BAGS
Now for your trash cans either use paper trash bags or I’ve seen decompose trash bags at my local grocery store or you can use no trash bag which is, of course, the best option.

63.REGROW YOUR FOOD
There’s a lot of food that you can regrow from the scraps at the grocery store like green onions. You literally just cut out the green part that you’re going to use and then stick the rest in a cup of water, and it will grow into new green onions. We do that so much. You can also regrow lettuce and celery etc for the path of Eco-friendly Lifestyle.
64.SEGREGATE YOUR WASTE
Don’t mix up your waste as biodegradable items when mixed with non-biodegradable or glass can make many changes in difficulties in recycling
